On February 19, 2025, the City College of Cagayan de Oro (CCCDO) held a coordination meeting with Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI), marking another milestone in their ongoing partnership. The discussion focused on reviewing previous accomplishments and planning future collaborative initiatives under the Sanayan sa Kakayahang Industriyal (SKIL) Program.

In attendance were PSFI Program Officers Mr. Marco Valdez and Ms. Demi Nasol, together with CCCDO’s Director for the Linkages and Partnerships Office (LAPO), Mr. James Patrick Santos, and his team. They were joined by Ms. Mary Vil Acenas, Vocational School Administrator, along with her staff.

Since the partnership’s formalization on July 25, 2024, the collaboration has provided educational and training opportunities for 38 Kagay-anon youth, with more beneficiaries to follow. The SKIL Program emphasizes technical and vocational skills development, equipping learners with the competencies needed for employment and personal advancement.

PSFI has been instrumental in sustaining the program’s success by providing industry-based training, employment support, and financial assistance—covering consumables, allowances for Supervised Industry Learning (SIL), and assessment fees for obtaining the National Certificate (NC), a vital qualification for formal employment.

The program’s impact is evident through the successful job placements of several scholars shortly after completing their training, demonstrating its real-world benefits.

With a shared commitment to empowering Kagay-anon youth, CCCDO and PSFI continue to strengthen their partnership, fostering opportunities for growth and contributing to the socio-economic progress of Cagayan de Oro City.
