On May 9, 2025, the City College of Cagayan de Oro burst into life as students came together to celebrate the Festival Day 2025. It was a day full of color, energy, and pride as various activities lined up were participated by the students from the different programs showcasing their varied interests and talents.
The festivities kicked off with the official registration at the Covered Court. By 9:00 AM, the third installment of #BallotReady Episode 3 commenced with the reigning Mister Philippines, Mr. Zaymun A. Libago, as the resource speaker, reinforcing student awareness on electoral participation and governance. Simultaneously, the Dugong Bayani: Blood Donation Drive, led by the Extension Office through the supervision of Ms. Herna Francis Mae Tano, was launched at the TSB 202, continuing until 3:00 PM, providing an avenue for students to give back and make a difference through voluntary blood donation.
Laughter and excitement filled the air at 10:30 AM with Pinoy Party Games, encouraging playful competition and team bonding. At 12:00 noon, the spotlight turned toward the creatives with a Live Painting Competition held at LB 102, running until 2:00 PM. Meanwhile, brainy banter and friendly debates sparked during Geek Wars at the Covered Court, proving that intellectual fun was just as welcome as the physical.
As the clock struck 2:00 PM, the afternoon session opened with a Spelling Bee, followed by the Radio Broadcasting Competition at 3:00 PM, held simultaneously at the EdTech Laboratory and the Covered Court. The events highlighted students’ linguistic prowess and broadcasting skills, captivating the live audience. Moreover, these few other activities were part of the BACOMM day celebration that was held concurrently with the Festival Day.
A Hosting Competition followed, testing charisma, stage presence, and spontaneity—traits essential for future media professionals. At 4:00 PM, the atmosphere transformed with colorful wigs, dramatic makeup, and character transformations as the Cosplay Convention began, drawing in enthusiasts and photographers alike.
Finally, the day concluded at 5:00 PM with the Closing Program, a celebration of accomplishments and shared experiences throughout the event. Attendees were also encouraged to visit the Student Council Booths, where each council displayed themed installations representing their respective clusters.
The Festival Day 2025 celebration proved to be more than just a campus event, it was a reflection of CCCdO’s vibrant student life, a celebration of talents, and a reaffirmation of unity within diversity. With performances, competitions, and shared laughter, the day served as a radiant reminder of what makes the City College of Cagayan de Oro truly shine.
