The City College of Cagayan de Oro (CCCDO) and the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on August 6, 2025, at the CCCDO Audio Visual Room to strengthen volunteerism initiatives in the city.

The milestone partnership was formalized by PNVSCA Executive Director Donald James Gawe and CCCDO College President Dr. Jestoni P. Babia, committing both institutions to work hand-in-hand in promoting volunteerism as a driving force for community empowerment and nation-building.

Director Gawe highlighted the vital role of schools in shaping service-driven leaders, while Dr. Babia emphasized that the partnership reinforces CCCDO’s mission to produce globally competitive graduates who are also socially responsible citizens.

After the signing, the PNVSCA team and CCCDO officials paid a courtesy call to the Office of the City Mayor and formally turned over the PNVSCA Volunteerism Marker, officially recognizing Cagayan de Oro as an active hub of volunteer service in the country.

This collaboration will roll out joint programs, training, and initiatives that engage CCCDO students, faculty, and the local community in meaningful volunteer work. Anchored on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, it advances SDG 4 (Quality Education) by integrating volunteerism into learning, SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by empowering youth for inclusive development, SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) through volunteer-driven local solutions, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by strengthening collaboration among government, academe, and community stakeholders.

Through this partnership, CCCDO and PNVSCA reaffirm their shared vision that volunteerism is not just an act of service, but a transformative force that builds empowered citizens, inclusive communities, and a stronger nation.
