Cagayan de Oro City – The City College of Cagayan de Oro has reached a significant milestone in its research efforts with the official approval of its proposal under the Research Initiatives in Teacher Education (RITE) 2 Project by the Teacher Education Council (TEC).

The approved study, titled “Mentorship that Matters: An Empirical Study on Predictive Modeling for Pre-Service Teachers Among TEIs in Visayas and Mindanao”, focuses on developing data-driven mentorship frameworks to support pre-service teachers. The TEC Secretariat commended the proposal for its alignment with national priorities in teacher education and its innovative approach to predictive modeling.

A virtual coordination meeting was held on May 13, 2025, between CCCDO's research team and the TEC Secretariat to finalize the project’s direction, initial funding, and operational partnerships. Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan was designated as the official research partner, following DepEd Order No. 16, s. 2024.

Leading the project is a multidisciplinary team of experts and administrators from the City College of Cagayan de Oro:

The research aims to strengthen mentorship practices in teacher education institutions (TEIs), particularly in the Visayas and Mindanao regions, by using empirical data to guide pre-service teacher development.

The entire academic community commends the research team. With research as a catalyst for educational transformation, the City College of Cagayan de Oro continues to lead in promoting quality, inclusive, and context-responsive teacher education.
