As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, we reflect that he provides the ultimate example of selflessness, compassion, and service to others. These virtues are central to the Sustainable Development Goals – 17 global goals adopted by the United Nations in 2015 to address poverty, inequality, and environmental degradation by 2030.

The City College of CDO actively supports initiatives aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals. Its Office for Lifelong Learning and other units have launched programs to positively impact the local community.

The collaboration between the City College of CDO and the local government under Mayor Rolando Klarex Uy illustrates its shared commitment to tackling sustainable development challenges. Uy's RISE platform – emphasizing Resilience, Inclusivity, Sustainability, and Empowerment – aligns with the key principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (Babia, 2021).

In the coming years, the City College of Cagayan de Oro is poised to expand its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals with even more exciting and meaningful initiatives. The institution plans to continue creating innovative programs and projects that align with the SDGs, such as the expansion of the RISE Learning Academy's training and workshop series, as well as the introduction of new Certificate Courses. These platforms will engage students, professionals, public service personnel, and the broader community in deepening their understanding and support of the SDGs.

The City College's collaboration with the local government under Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy, whose RISE platform emphasizes Resilience, Inclusivity, Sustainability, and Empowerment, further underscores its shared dedication to tackling sustainable development challenges in the region. The CCCdO proactively supports the political platform of the City Mayor as we dream of more inclusive and sustainable communities.

As we celebrate the birth of Christ, let us reflect on how we can embody the spirit of giving, compassion, and service to others – values that are fundamental to sustainable development. By working together, the City College of Cagayan de Oro, the local government, and the broader community can make meaningful progress towards a more just, equitable, and sustainable future for all.

Through collaborative efforts and a shared commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, we can drive positive change and create a better world for generations to come.

The OLLP shall undertake capacity-building programs and provide technical assistance to LGUs and civil society organizations to improve their understanding and implementation of sustainable development initiatives. We will shape the next generation of leaders, innovators, and changemakers committed to the Sustainable Development Goals.
