The City College of Cagayan de Oro (CCCDO) actively participated in the 3rd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on September 11, 2025, reinforcing its commitment to disaster preparedness and community resilience.

In compliance with the City Administration directives and the national earthquake drill spearheaded by the Office of Civil Defense, all CCCDO personnel participated in the activity facilitated by the Office of the Health Services and the institution’s Safety Officers. The designated evacuation site was the CCCDO Covered Court, where participants carried out the key phases of earthquake response: “Drop, Cover, and Hold On,” prompt evacuation using the buddy-buddy system, and assembly with headcount to ensure accountability.

After the drill, evaluators reviewed the execution of safety procedures and highlighted areas for improvement. Faculty and staff were likewise reminded of the importance of preparedness, including readiness for possible aftershocks and the consistent observance of standard safety protocols.

College Nurse and Health & Safety Officer Capalaran L. Sabasales, RN led the organization of the drill, with concurrence from Dr. Kurt S. Candilas, Vice President for Administration, and approval from Dr. Jestoni P. Babia, CCCDO President.

This activity forms part of CCCDO’s continuing efforts to build a culture of safety and resilience within its academic community, ensuring that faculty, staff, and students are equipped with the knowledge and readiness to respond effectively during emergencies.
