Cagayan de Oro City, November 29, 2024 – The City College of Cagayan de Oro (CCCDO) spearheaded an exploratory meeting to establish a regional Research and Innovation Consortium for Education, Future Initiatives, and Economic Learning Development (RICEFIELD). The event brought together key representatives from the City College of El Salvador, Magsaysay College, and Gingoog City United Colleges.

The meeting focused on identifying collaborative opportunities, fostering innovation, and laying the groundwork for a strong network of LGU-led colleges across Region X. Discussions centered on joint research initiatives, resource sharing, and strategies to address regional challenges.

“By working together, we can create a dynamic academic and research environment that benefits both our institutions and local communities,” said Prof. Jonathan A. Madronero, CCCDO Vice President for Urban Nexus for Licensing, Intellectual Property, Research, Innovation, and Creative Enterprise.

Other LGU-led colleges in Region X are encouraged to join the initiative, which aims to drive sustainable progress and innovation throughout the region. Next steps include finalizing the consortium framework, identifying key research priorities, and setting timelines for collaborative projects.
