CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Prof. Jonathan Madronero, Director for Ethics Review Board of the City College of Cagayan de Oro, represented the institution at the high-impact Capacity-Building Writeshop organized by the Department of Economy, Planning and Development – Region X (DEPDev-X) on July 17, 2025 at N Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City.

Prof. Madronero’s participation highlights the institution’s proactive stance in driving innovation, placing the college at the forefront of the innovation stages among Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs). The writeshop aimed to equip LUCs, LGUs, and government agencies with the skills to develop compelling, problem-driven proposals for the FY 2025 Innovation Grants cycle.

The sessions, led by Mr. Florante Galura Jr. from the DEPDev Innovation Staff and Dr. Jinky Bornales from the ILIGANiCE Program, gave helpful guidance on how to apply for grants. They explained the grant requirements, taught how to use the Business Model Canvas to plan out project ideas, and gave tips on how to write clear and strong technical proposals.

Through this engagement, CCCDO affirms its commitment to crafting innovative solutions that address pressing development challenges - a concrete contribution to Sustainable Development Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.
