In a joint effort to elevate local governance and grassroots leadership, the City College of Cagayan de Oro, in partnership with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Gender and Development (GAD) Office of the local government unit, is set to launch an Executive Leadership Course tailored for barangay officials. A preparatory meeting for this initiative was held today, July 23, 2025 at the CCCDO AVR, bringing together key representatives from all collaborating agencies.

The program will feature various training modules that are currently being developed and are scheduled for submission in the third week of August 2025. Once finalized, the modules will serve as the foundation of a comprehensive executive learning experience for local officials.

This upcoming course aims to serve as a strategic platform for the personal and professional development of local leaders, strengthening their capabilities in leadership, governance, and the implementation of gender-responsive programs and projects (PPAs) in their communities. This forward-looking initiative underscores the importance of providing quality, inclusive, and lifelong learning opportunities—contributing directly to the realization of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education).

This initiative also contributes meaningfully to SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by empowering community leaders to be more effective, accountable, and inclusive in their governance. It also reflects the spirit of SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), highlighting the importance of collaboration between academic institutions, government bodies, and advocacy groups in advancing sustainable development.

With this forthcoming executive course, CCCDO, DILG, and GAD reaffirm their shared commitment to building stronger, more responsive, and future-ready barangay leadership.
