𝗖𝗖𝗖𝗗𝗢 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗮𝘆 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝘀 𝗝𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

The City College of Cagayan de Oro, through its Director for Artistic Performing and Cultural Innovation, Dr. Montano L. Tapanan Jr., LPT, was privileged to be represented as one of the Board of Judges during the 2025 Higalaay Festival Streetdancing and Showdown Competition held on August 26, 2025, at the Pelaez Sports Center, Cagayan de Oro City.

With this year’s theme, “Proud of our Roots; Bold in our Dreams,” the competition became a vibrant showcase of artistry, creativity, and cultural pride. Every contingent brought the theme to life through colorful performances, highlighting the 9 basic Higalaay Steps required for both street dancing and showdown that symbolize the unity, tradition, and identity of Kagay-anons.

The College extends its heartfelt thanks to Hon. City Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy for the invitation and support, and to the City Local Government Unit of Cagayan de Oro, together with the City Tourism Office CDO, for the warm welcome and steadfast commitment to culture and the arts. Gratitude is also extended to Dr. Jestoni P. Babia, the ever-supportive and dynamic City College President, for the opportunity to participate in this meaningful cultural celebration.

This participation reaffirms the City College of Cagayan de Oro’s commitment to celebrating culture and the arts, as well as nurturing traditions that inspire unity, pride, and excellence among Kagay-anons.
