Cagayan de Oro City – The City College of Cagayan de Oro (CCCDO), in collaboration with the Academic Doctors’ Circle (ADoc), joined the Department of Education (DepEd) Regional Office 10 for the two-day onsite review of research entries for the Mindanao Journal of Alternative Education Studies (MJAES), Volume 2, Number 1, held on December 4–5, 2024, at FB Budgetel, Cagayan de Oro City.
DepEd 10 Assistant Regional Director Dr. Federico P. Martin lauded the region’s growing research culture, emphasizing that “DepEd Region 10 is now producing scientific, data-driven reports that lead to better programs and policies.”
CCCDO played a key role through its team of research experts—Dr. Ray Butch D. Mahinay, Dr. Joel D. Potane, Prof. Jonathan A. Madronero, Dr. Kurt Candilas, and Dr. Jean T. Loquillano—who also serve on the MJAES editorial board.
Originally founded by Dr. Ray Butch D. Mahinay and now managed by Dr. John Franklin Dresser, DepEd Region 10 ALS Focal Person, the MJAES continues to champion research innovations in alternative education across Mindanao.
DepEd Region 10 CLMD Chief Mala Epra B. Magnaong inspired participants to ensure that “research translates into real impact,” underscoring its role in shaping inclusive and evidence-based educational policies.
The partnership among CCCDO, ADoc, and DepEd Region 10 reflects a shared commitment to advancing quality research that empowers learners and strengthens the foundation of alternative education in Mindanao.
