In celebration of National Disaster Resilience Month, the City College of Cagayan de Oro successfully conducted Project LIGTAS, a five-day intensive training on Basic Life Support (BLS) and Basic First Aid (BFA) as part of its NSTP Extension Program from July 7–11, 2025.

This meaningful initiative was participated in by the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management volunteers and SK youth volunteers from Barangay Agusan—empowering them with essential life-saving knowledge and emergency response skills.

The training was made possible through the invaluable expertise, steadfast commitment, and professional service of the highly skilled team from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), led by the following dedicated and experienced facilitators: John Ross L. Escoltos, Russel A. Cimafranca, Marigold L. Sabellina, Carl Matthew G. Mauring, Jonas Montalban, Daryl Pantaleon, and Michael Angelo Madria.

Project LIGTAS supports several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 13: Climate Action, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Through this collaborative training, Barangay Agusan BDRR and community youth volunteers are now better equipped to respond to emergencies and build safer, more resilient
