The City College of Cagayan de Oro, under the leadership of President Dr. Jestoni P. Babia, had the honor of hosting officials from the Department of Education (DepEd) representing 12 regions nationwide in a learning visit held on October 9, 2025, which emphasized the vital role of education in advancing sustainability and strengthening community resilience.

The program opened with welcome remarks from Dr. Helmae E. Tapanan, Vice President for Academics. This was followed by a session on Microcredential in Climate Change presented by Professor Eldin Camposo, Ms. Sittie Aliah Paki, and Mr. Eugene Ranoco, where participants learned how technology can be integrated into climate education. The session also featured a hands-on demonstration of the interactive courseware developed by the TIDMAC team.

Capping off the visit, Ms. Herna Francis Mae Tano, Director of the Extensions and Outreach Office, presented CCCDO’s Bayanihan Outreach Program, which embodies the college’s strong commitment to community partnership and education that transforms lives. Participants also explored the Fresco Greenovation Laboratory, where they experienced a local agri-tech initiative that showcases innovation and sustainability in action. This collaborative engagement reinforces CCCDO’s commitment to shaping education that addresses both human and environmental needs—advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4, SDG 13, and SDG 17.
