With the goal of helping those in need during calamities and promoting care for the environment and public health, the National Service Training Program (NSTP) of the City College of Cagayan de Oro conducted the “NSTP Real Talk Series 1” on October 18, 2024, at Zone 2, CCCDO Agusan, Cagayan de Oro City.
The event featured a series of engaging and informative discussions led by experts from various fields, covering topics on disaster preparedness, health, inclusivity, and environmental protection:
“Prep Like a Pro: Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM)” with Mr. John Ross L. Escoltos, RN, EMT, emphasizing the importance of preparedness and proactive response during disasters;
“Press for Life: The Power of Hands-Only CPR” with Ms. Abbie Joy B. Torayno, RN, EMT, highlighting essential life-saving techniques;
“Oops, Ban Plastic” with Ms. Nicole Adelle Tacandong, advocating for plastic use reduction and environmental sustainability;
“That’s My Beshy!” focusing on SOGIE awareness, promoting understanding, respect, and equality among diverse gender identities;
“Safe & Sure” discussing HIV/AIDS and STIs/STDs, aimed at encouraging responsible health practices and breaking the stigma surrounding sexual health; and
“No Thanks”, a session on drug education, emphasizing the dangers of substance abuse and the importance of making informed, healthy choices.
