Ms. Faith Q. Colarte, RGC, Director of the Student Welfare and Services Office under the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS), represented the City College of Cagayan de Oro (CCCDO) in two school-based mental health engagements. She served as a resource speaker at PHINMA–Cagayan de Oro College on October 8, 2025, and at Initao College on October 10, 2025, in celebration of World Mental Health Day.

At PHINMA–COC’s Mental Health Fair 2025, organized by the Center for Student Development and Leadership, Ms. Colarte shared valuable insights on mindset and well-being. In the morning session, she emphasized that success and struggle often begin in the mind and that embracing a growth mindset opens doors to endless possibilities. In the afternoon, she led a mini talk on Stress Management: Finding Balance in a Hectic World, where she highlighted time management as a key skill for reducing stress and fostering a sense of control and accomplishment amid academic demands.

Meanwhile, at Initao College, through the Guidance Center, Ms. Colarte facilitated a session themed “Serenity Starts with Self-Care,” attended by nearly 300 students from various programs in Criminal Justice, Business and Management, Hospitality and Tourism, and Education. She encouraged students to take an intentional approach to achieving inner calm and shared simple yet effective techniques such as grounding, mindful breathing, and progressive muscle relaxation to reduce stress, prevent burnout, and enhance overall well-being.

Through these engagements, CCCDO continues to champion mental health advocacy beyond its campus walls re-affirming its commitment to being a community partner in promoting wellness and holistic development. This initiative also contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3 and 4, which emphasize good health and well-being and quality education for all.
