Congratulations to Joel D. Potane, Jean T. Loquillano, and Kurt S. Candilas for their research publication titled "Promoting SDGs 10 and 16: Building a Child Rights-Respecting Community Through the Colega Teaching Manual in Cagayan de Oro City" in the Journal of Interdisciplinary Perspectives.
This important study highlights the role of human rights education in fostering peace, justice, and equality. It evaluates the impact of the Colega Teaching Manual on child rights education and its alignment with SDGs 10 and 16. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research gathered insights from 273 implementers, revealing improvements in implementation, child rights advocacy, governance, and school practices. A significant outcome was the reduction in physical bullying, demonstrating the manual’s contribution to fostering safer, rights-centered school environments.
