A Campus Journalism Seminar and Workshop was successfully conducted on November 15, 2024, at Patag National High School, gathering both students and teachers who share a passion for responsible and creative journalism. The activity aimed to enhance the participants’ skills in writing and broadcasting while promoting the importance of truth, ethics, and integrity in campus journalism.
The seminar was facilitated by Prof. Manlunas, a seasoned journalist and educator, who delivered a comprehensive discussion on various fields of journalistic writing. Topics included News Writing, Feature Writing, Editorial Writing, Column Writing, Sports Writing, and Radio Broadcasting. Each session was designed to build competence in crafting clear, factual, and engaging stories suitable for school publications and radio segments.
During the workshop, participants engaged in hands-on writing exercises and collaborative activities that simulated real newsroom experiences. Students learned how to gather accurate information, structure their articles effectively, and apply the principles of journalistic ethics. Teachers, on the other hand, were guided on how to mentor student writers and sustain a vibrant school publication.
The event concluded with an open forum where participants expressed their appreciation for the learning experience, noting how the seminar deepened their understanding of journalism as both a craft and a social responsibility. Overall, the Campus Journalism Seminar and Workshop not only honed writing and communication skills but also inspired the participants to become advocates of truth and responsible storytelling within their school community.
