Congratulations to Ray Butch Mahinay, Pedro Gamba, Candice May Gamayon, and Psyche Cambo for the research publication titled “Community-Based Higher Education Initiatives and SDG 4: Meta-Analysis and Lessons for a Local City College” in the International Journal for Multidisciplinary Research (IJFMR).
This study provides a meta-analysis of 35 studies published from 2000 to 2024, examining how community-based higher education (CBHE) initiatives align with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4). The research highlights how CBHE efforts promote inclusivity, equity, and quality education while empowering local communities.
Findings emphasize that CBHE improves access to resources, fosters participatory governance, and strengthens institutional partnerships. These initiatives also help students develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and social responsibility. For the
City College of Cagayan de Oro, this study underscores the value of tailored service-learning, collaborative governance, and sustainability-focused strategies in addressing local needs effectively.
