The City College of Cagayan de Oro (CCCDO) proudly launched its Accommodation Policy for Students with Special Needs during a public orientation held at the CCCDO Covered Court. The event, organized by the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS), gathered students, faculty, and staff to witness this milestone in the College’s commitment to inclusivity and equity in education.

The policy, which was approved by the College President and subsequently ratified by the Governing Board, sets out clear guidelines and support mechanisms to ensure that students with special needs are provided with appropriate accommodations in their academic journey. It reflects CCCDO’s dedication to fostering a learning environment where every student can thrive, regardless of physical, mental, or developmental challenges.

City College of Cagayan de Oro implements a reasonable accommodation policy to ensure students with disabilities are provided equitable access to education and campus life. As outlined in the Accommodation Policy for Students with Special Needs, the College commits to making adjustments to physical, sensory, or mental limitations unless such accommodations would cause undue hardship. Upon voluntary disclosure, students may identify their specific needs, and the Office of Students with Special Needs (OSSN) coordinates with Health Services, Guidance and Counseling, faculty, and other units to provide tailored support. Accommodations may include assistive devices, interpreters, personal aides, modified assignments, or physical adjustments such as ramps and accessible restrooms. Importantly, funding for these services is integrated into the College’s operational budget, ensuring sustainability and long-term implementation.

Highlights of the Launch:

  • Inclusive Orientation: All students were invited to participate, ensuring broad awareness and understanding of the new policy.
  • Collaborative Effort: The OSAS spearheaded the orientation, emphasizing student involvement and collective responsibility.
  • Sustainable Support: The integration of funding into the College’s operational budget guarantees continuity of services.

With this launch, CCCDO takes a decisive step toward building a more inclusive institution. The College affirms that education is a right for all and that diversity enriches the academic community. The Accommodation Policy will serve as a foundation for future initiatives that champion equity and student welfare.
