The City College of Cagayan de Oro (CCCDO) non-teaching personnel participated in the Mental Health Awareness Program organized and facilitated by the Human Resource Management Department on November 11, 2025. The session was led by Ms. Alve Jane Aranton, RPm, RPsy, who emphasized the vital role of self-care in sustaining mental well-being. She highlighted practical strategies such as establishing healthy boundaries, taking intentional breaks, cultivating supportive relationships, and engaging in activities that promote relaxation and emotional balance—all essential practices that enhance stress management and strengthen resilience in the workplace.
During the program, Dr. Kurt S. Candilas shared a thoughtful reminder, “As mental health takes a toll on everyone, may we all have a listening heart that knows how to empathize with the darkness that someone is facing.” His message reinforced the importance of compassion, empathy, and shared responsibility in building a supportive and understanding work environment.
Participant Ms. Melanie Jean Magto-Namocatcat also expressed valuable insight, stating, “Mental health is essential because it influences how we think, feel, and handle daily challenges. When our mental well-being is taken care of, we are more capable of making good decisions, maintaining healthy relationships, and performing effectively in school or work.”
By the end of the program, participants left with a renewed appreciation for prioritizing mental health, carrying with them a deeper sense of awareness and collective well-being— an important step toward fostering a healthier and more supportive CCCDO community.
