As we step into 2026 with renewed hope and commitment, the City College of Cagayan de Oro, through the National Service Training Program (NSTP), proudly looks back on a meaningful Tree Planting Activity conducted on December 19, 2025 at Macasandig Rio Boulevard, in cooperation with the City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO).
This initiative reflects the true essence of volunteerism and service-learning, made possible by the dedication and collective action of our NSTP student-volunteers. Through hands-on participation, students strengthened their ecological awareness, practiced environmental responsibility, and actively contributed to community-building beyond the classroom.
More than planting trees, the activity planted values—care for the environment, shared responsibility, and civic engagement—that will continue to grow in the years ahead. It stands as a testament to NSTP’s mission of shaping socially responsible, environmentally conscious, and service-driven citizens ready to serve both community and nation.
Towards Environmental Sustainability and Community Responsibility
This activity supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
• SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities
• SDG 13 – Climate Action
• SDG 15 – Life on Land
As we welcome 2026, may this initiative inspire us to strengthen the culture of volunteerism, deepen our commitment to environmental stewardship, and continue working together for a greener, more sustainable future for present and future generations.
