Butuan City, April 14, 2025 — The training -workshop on Innovation, Protection, and Intellectual Transfer (IPIT) series for City College of Cagayan de Oro(CCCDO) personnel was officially launched at Caraga State University (CSU).


The 2-day pioneering initiative aimed to promote market-driven solutions through research collaboration, intellectual property (IP) protection, and technology transfer. The activity was participated in by 15 CCCDO personnel representing the institution’s Urban Nexus for Licensing Intellectual Property, Innovation, and Creative Enterprise, headed by Prof. Jonathan A. Madronero. Their presence underscored the institutions growing commitment to building a campus-wide culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.


The day began with a courtesy call to the Office of the University President, Dr. Rolyn C. Daguil, and the Vice President for Research & Development, Innovation, and Extension (OVPRDIE), Dr. Jeffrey T. Dellosa, reflecting CSU’s strong institutional backing for innovation-centered academic partnerships.


In his opening message, Information Officer II Mr. Mark Angelo C. Pineda emphasized the strategic role of innovation ecosystems in fostering economic and social development.


Meanwhile, Prof. Kenneth L. Ciudad gave an overview of CSU’s Technology Transfer and Licensing Office (TTLO) and Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO), showcasing how institutional IP policies and support structures translate research into real-world impact.


Genesis Jared Cutamora, ABH Project Leader, on the other hand,presented the university’s pre-commercialization activities, sharing progress and strategies for preparing technologies for market readiness.


Ms. Jenelyn R. Asis, Project Head of Technology Business Incubation (TBI), shared CSU’s approach to startup support, capacity-building, and enterprise development within the university setting.


Mr. Joey Arles O. Vergara, TTLO Director, concluded the session with a presentation on Knowledge Management, outlining frameworks for research documentation, IP tracking, and innovation dissemination.


In the afternoon, participants joined a guided tour of CSU’s Research Centers and Innovation Facilities, where they observed active laboratories, product prototyping spaces, and innovation hubs that exemplify CSU’s role as a regional leader in research and development.


With CCCDO actively participating in the IPIT Seminar, the event marked a significant step in enhancing the capacity of emerging institutions to engage in intellectual property protection, technology transfer, and innovation-led growth. Day 1 ended with strong momentum for collaborative knowledge-sharing, positioning both CSU and CCCDO at the forefront of innovation initiatives.
