The City College of Cagayan de Oro (CCCDO) continues to strengthen its innovation initiatives, successfully conducting a benchmarking visit to the Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) on April 25, 2025. The visit marks a significant milestone in the college’s commitment to building a culture of innovation aligned with its institutional and city development goals.


A fifteen-member delegation from CCCDO’s UNLIRICE and LLPD teams arrived at MSU-IIT at approximately 10:00 AM. They were warmly welcomed by Dr. Cecilia B. Tangian, Director of the Center for Advanced Education and Lifelong Learning (CAELL), who personally led them to the FAB LAB Mindanao office. There, the team was received by Dr. Arnel D. Zamayla, Director of FAB LAB Mindanao (Center of Innovation and Invention), and his staff.

The visit featured a comprehensive showcase of FAB LAB Mindanao’s advanced facilities and services, including 3D Printing and Thermoforming, 3D Scanning, Digital Design Training, Precision Milling, Laser Cutting, Digital Embroidery, Maker Tours, and Project Consultations. The team also presented a wide array of innovative products that have successfully reached commercialization, highlighting MSU-IIT’s strong culture of research-driven innovation.


Demonstrating a spirit of collaboration and support, Dr. Zamayla expressed enthusiasm for CCCDO’s innovation initiatives, offering free training opportunities for the college’s faculty and staff. The delegation was also toured through the Research and Innovation Gallery, where they viewed impressive outputs that exemplify MSU-IIT’s leadership in technology and research advancements.


The benchmarking visit provided an invaluable learning experience for the CCCDO Office for Innovation and the UNLIRICE team. It inspired the development of new strategies and reinforced the college’s commitment to fostering an innovation-driven environment that empowers students, faculty, and the broader community.
