El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental – May 9, 2025 — In line with its thrust to promote interdisciplinary learning and deepen faculty engagement in science-based education, the City College of Cagayan de Oro (CCCDO) conducted a half-day educational visit to the DOST-PAG-ASA Planetarium in El Salvador City.
The activity was spearheaded by Dr. Joel D. Potane, Research Director of CCCDO, and brought together thirteen (13) faculty and research personnel from the Urban Nexus for Licensing, Intellectual Property, Research, Innovation, and Creative Enterprise (UNLIRICE) Office.
During the visit, participants engaged in an interactive session inside the PAG-ASA Planetarium, where they explored celestial phenomena, seasonal constellations, and planetary systems. PAG-ASA personnel also delivered a technical briefing on space science and its applications in weather forecasting, environmental monitoring, and disaster preparedness.
“This visit provided valuable exposure to space and atmospheric sciences, which are essential for strengthening our research and curriculum development,” said Dr. Potane. “It opens possibilities for future collaboration with PAG-ASA in public science education and innovation.”
The half-day educational tour is part of CCCDO’s ongoing initiatives to connect research and instruction with real-world scientific systems, enriching the professional growth of its academic personnel while fostering curiosity, collaboration, and innovation across disciplines.
