ALCU-X Librarians Convene for Oath-Taking and Seminar on Quality Library Services

On January 29, 2026, the Oath-Taking Ceremony of the ALCU-X Librarians Board of Directors for Academic Year 2026–2027 was conducted by the Association of Local Colleges and Universities (ALCU) Region X – Commission of Librarians in Tangub City Global College. The ceremony was conducted in parallel with the seminar “Ensuring Quality Library Services: Meeting ALCUCOA Accreditation Requirements.”

Among the major goals of the event were the provision of essential updates about the accreditation standards and their relevance to the local colleges and universities, and ALCUCOA alignment to ensure the maintenance of high-quality library services in the region and the national context. Additionally, the seminar highlighted best practices that librarians can adopt to improve their services, emphasizing the importance of staying current with accreditation guidelines and ensuring that libraries provide meaningful support to students, faculty, and the community.

This gathering provided a platform for networking, sharing ideas, and discussing the challenges and opportunities in library management. It also allowed attendees to strengthen their professional ties, creating a more unified front among libraries in the region.

The event concluded with the formal induction of the newly elected officers of the ALCU-X Librarians Board, who will serve for the 2026–2027 academic term. Among the new officers, Dr. Melody R. Agcito, the Director of the College Library Services Office, was elected as the Auditor of ALCU-X, marking a significant leadership role in ensuring the financial transparency and accountability of the organization.

Overall, the event was a success, not only for its educational value but also for its role in strengthening the region’s library network, fostering collaboration, and ensuring continued professional growth for librarians in Region X—all while supporting the broader objectives of promoting quality education and building partnerships to achieve sustainable development goals.
