April 15, 2026 – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office X formally launched the Government Internship Program (GIP) 2026 through a Partnership Agreement Signing held at the Country Village Hotel. The initiative aims to promote employment opportunities within government agencies for qualified individuals, including high school and senior high school graduates, technical-vocational completers, and college graduates seeking meaningful work experience through DOLE’s flagship program.

The event gathered regional directors and representatives from various national and local government agencies in Cagayan de Oro City, highlighting strong inter-agency collaboration and support. Under the program, GIP interns may be deployed to participating agencies for a period ranging from three (3) months to twelve (12) months, enabling them to develop competencies, enhance employability, and gain exposure to public service.

As one of DOLE’s partner agencies for the deployment of GIP interns, the City College of Cagayan de Oro actively participated in the partnership agreement signing. Representing the institution were Dr. Kurt Candilas, Vice President for Administration and Finance, and Rio Hillary Dalman, MPA, on behalf of College President Dr. Jestoni P. Babia.

In his message, Dr. Candilas emphasized the importance of providing meaningful opportunities for the youth, stating, “This partnership with DOLE allows CCCDO to become a training ground for young individuals who aspire to serve. Through the GIP, we are not only giving them work experience, but also shaping their values, discipline, and commitment to public service.”

This partnership underscores the shared commitment of DOLE and its partner institutions to empower the Kagay-anon youth by providing accessible employment pathways and practical training opportunities within the public sector.
