City College of Cagayan de Oro (CCCDO) proudly celebrates the successful publication of a new research study titled “𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐀 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰.” authored by Dr. Braziel L. Ongcachuy of Cagayan de Oro College-PHINMA Cagayan de Oro City and Dr. Joel D. Potane, from City College of Cagayan de Oro.

The research examines the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a transformative force in university governance and management. It focuses on how AI supports institutional decision-making, policy development, and operational efficiency within higher education institutions. As the integration of digital technologies accelerates, the study highlights the increasing relevance of AI-driven systems in shaping modern educational leadership and administration.

Utilizing a systematic review approach guided by the PRISMA 2020 framework, the study analyzed data from the ERIC database covering the years 2022–2025. From an initial 3,669 records, ten high-quality studies were selected after rigorous screening. The findings reveal that AI is widely applied in areas such as enrollment optimization, predictive analytics for student success, and the automation of administrative functions, significantly reducing managerial workload and enhancing institutional efficiency.

However, the study also underscores critical challenges, particularly the tension between efficiency and ethical responsibility. Concerns on data privacy, algorithmic bias, and increased surveillance remain significant, alongside a notable institutional readiness gap, with over 75% of stakeholders reporting unpreparedness for AI integration. Global insights from countries including the United Kingdom, China, Turkey, Zimbabwe, Morocco, Canada, and the United States further emphasize the need for strategic readiness in adopting AI technologies.

This publication highlights that while AI offers powerful opportunities for data-driven governance and smart university management, its successful implementation requires strong ethical frameworks and forward-thinking digital leadership to safeguard human agency and institutional integrity.

This achievement reflects CCCDO’s unwavering commitment to research excellence, innovation, and advancing knowledge that supports transformative and responsible governance in higher education.
