The City College of Cagayan de Oro (CCCDO) officially opened its five-day In-Service Training (INSET) on Monday, July 20, 2026, at the AV Room, bringing together faculty members for a week-long professional development program centered on research, instruction, assessment, extension, and academic production.
Organized by the Office of the Curriculum and Instruction (OCI), the training, entitled "Future-Ready Faculty Development 2026: Advancing Instruction, Assessment, Research, Extension, and Academic Production in Local Higher Education," is designed to strengthen faculty competencies based on the findings of the 2026 Teacher Needs Assessment.
The opening day focused on Practice-Based Research and SDG-Aligned Extension, with resource speaker Dr. Maria Teresa M. Fajardo guiding participants in transforming classroom experiences into research opportunities and designing community extension initiatives aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The sessions also emphasized collaborative scholarship through faculty mentorship and the integration of instruction, research, and extension to create sustainable, measurable impact.
Participants concluded the day by presenting initial research concept notes and extension project canvases for peer feedback, laying the groundwork for succeeding workshop sessions throughout the week.
Running until July 24, the INSET will continue with sessions on inclusive pedagogy, digital learning materials, authentic assessment, and outcomes-based syllabus development, reinforcing CCCDO's commitment to instructional excellence, academic innovation, and continuous faculty development.
