OKAYAMA, JAPAN - City College of Cagayan de Oro strengthened its international engagement in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) as College President Dr. Jestoni P. Babia represented the institution and the Philippines at the 9th Conference of the Japan ESD Society and the ATECCE Network 2026 Meeting at Okayama University.

Dr. Babia has been actively involved in this international ESD partnership since 2016, participating in its continuing regional initiatives and collaborations. This year marks another milestone as City College of Cagayan de Oro was formally recognized as an institutional partner, alongside Capitol University, further expanding Cagayan de Oro’s participation in the Asian ESD network.

Ongoing collaborations include a Climate Change Education project and a forthcoming Springer book on ESD community practices in Asia. Dr. Babia and City College will contribute as authors, showcasing the College’s experiences alongside selected ESD practices of higher education institutions in the Philippines.

The partnership strengthens City College’s contribution to regional ESD initiatives while bringing local and Philippine experiences to the broader Asian education community.
