CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY โ The Department of Education Region XโNorthern Mindanao and the City College of Cagayan de Oro (CCCDO) formally launched Volume 3, Issue No. 1 of the Mindanao Journal of Alternative Education Studies (MJAES) through Zoom on August 25, 2026.
The latest volume features 10 research studies on the Alternative Learning System and alternative education. Bearing Print ISSN 3027-9496 and Online ISSN 3027-950X, the journal is accessible through the official City College of Cagayan de Oro website:

Messages of support were delivered by DepEd and CCCDO officials, including Assistant Regional Director Federico P. Martin, BAE Director III Dr. Marilette R. Almayda, CCCDO President Dr. Jestoni P. Babia, DepEd Region X Regional Director Dr. Ruth L. Fuentes, and BAE-PMSDD Chief Dr. Andrew A. Villarba.
The program also recognized the authors, editors, reviewers, and Technical Working Group members behind the publication. Dr. Ray Butch D. Mahinay, CCCDO Vice President for Research and Extension, was acknowledged for pioneering MJAES and establishing a platform to document and disseminate research and innovations in alternative education.
Dr. John Franklin Dresser, Regional Education Program Supervisor for ALS, announced the next call for papers, while CCCDO RITTS Director Dr. Joel D. Potane delivered the closing remarks and acknowledgments.
The virtual launch strengthened the partnership between DepEd Region X and CCCDO in advancing research, scholarly publication, and evidence-informed practices in alternative education.
