On September 9, 2024, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Provincial Office of Misamis Oriental granted the Certificate of Program Registration (CTPR) to the City College of Cagayan de Oro’s Mobile Training Program (MTP) and Community-Based Training (CBT). Under the institution's Technical Skills and Technology Institute (TSTI), both programs will focus on delivering technical-vocational skills training for the construction and tourism industries. The turnover of certificates took place at the TESDA MisOr Provincial Office, Yacapin St., Cagayan de Oro City.

Ms. Mary Vil C. Acenas, Vocational School Administrator of City College of CDO-TSTI expressed her gratitude for the recognition, according to her, “Receiving the CTPR from TESDA is a testament to TSTI’s commitment to providing quality training. We aim to help learners gain the skills they need to thrive in the field of Tourism and Construction.” This recognition certifies that the curriculum, training modules, and assessment methods of City College of CDO follows TESDA guidelines, benefiting Kagay-anons who are Out-of-School-Youth (OSY) seeking livelihood opportunities.

Meanwhile, TESDA MisOr Provincial Director, Ms. Marigold Cherie R. Garrido, emphasized that the program not only addresses the needs of local employers but also contributes to the province’s overall economic development by creating a skilled workforce. She also highlighted the accessibility and inclusivity of these programs, which are delivered directly to barangays, giving more individuals the chance to learn and grow.

The CTPR’s formal recognition and accreditation of City College of CDO-TSTI’s training programs ensure compliance with TESDA’s quality standards. This certification enables the institution to deliver technical training directly to local communities thereby enabling Out-of-School Youth Kagay-anons to earn Certificates of Completion that are acknowledged both locally and internationally. Scholar trainees in this program can enroll in qualifications such as Housekeeping NCII, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NCII, and other specialized community-based programs, with the help of the wing van donated by the First Community Cooperative (FICCO), which was ceremonially turned over last April 15, 2024.

The City College of Cagayan de Oro proudly celebrates this achievement, highlighting the collaborative efforts to equip Kagay-anons with the technical skills and practical experience essential for transforming future-ready skilled workers.
