The Geneva Office for Human Rights Education (GO-HRE) Switzerland has pledged its support to the City College of Cagayan de Oro, signing a commitment agreement during a partnership meeting held at the City Collegeโs Agusan Annex on September 2, 2024.
This partnership focuses on promoting human rights, fostering respect, tolerance, and equality. GO-HRE's support includes donating books, learning resources, human rights literature, and office equipment to the institution.
Dr. Jestoni P. Babia, Interim President of City College of CDO, emphasized the significance of the collaboration in advancing human rights education, aligning with CHEDโs mandate and supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on quality education, equality, and peace. Moreover, Ms. Haidi Fajardo, the Philippine country director and GO-HRE representative, along with Mr. Anthony John Balledos, GO-HRE coordinator, emphasized that its mission is to make human rights a part of every childโs education in order create a culture of kindness and respect.

Loquillano, Director of the Center for Human Rights Education, emphasized the partnership's key role in strengthening City College of CDO's position as a leader in human rights advocacy in Northern Mindanao. The collaboration also includes curriculum integration and capacity-building activities led by Dr. Loquillano and Dr. Joel D. Potane, Director of the Academic Resources and Services Office (ARSO). The Geneva Office for Human Rights Education (GO-HRE) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Pregny-Chambรฉsy, Switzerland, focused on promoting human rights education for children and youth. GO-HRE has partnered with the Department of Education for the national rollout of the COLEGA manual, a tool for teaching children's and youth's rights, with Dr. Jean T. Loquillano and Dr. Joel Potane serving as the lead trainers and facilitators for the initiative.
