On April 11, 2024, a significant milestone unfolded as the City College of Cagayan de Oro and FICCO - First Community Cooperative (FICCO) came together for the Ceremonial Signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) at the City Hall Quadrangle. A ceremony that marks a notable advancement for education and technical vocational skills training in Cagayan de Oro, with FICCO generously donating a wing van valued at Php 2.2 Million to support the City College's Mobile Training Program.
Key figures present at the event include FICCO's Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Edgardo A. Micayabas; Ms. Wilma Jane I. Mulet, Chairman of the Board of Directors; Ms. Richelle Anne Legaspi, Community Development Officer; along with two of its board members Ms. Emelia Dela Cerna and Ms. Diana Doris Empaynado. Likewise, representing the City Government were Mayor Rolando \"Klarex\" A. Uy; City Councilors Hon. Suzette Magtajas-Daba and Hon. Kenneth O. Sacala (represented by Hon. Zeush Kenan Collantes, SK Federation Secretary); Atty. Roy Hilario P. Raagas, City Administrator; along with Dr. Jestoni P. Babia, President of the City College of Cagayan de Oro; and administrative heads of both the City Government of Cagayan de Oro and the City College.
The event underscores the impactful role of partnerships in cultivating sustainable programs that have the potential to bring about positive change in the region's educational landscape—an initiative that aligns with Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy's vision of bringing government closer to the people, “Ang katawhan duol sa gobyerno, ug ang gobyerno duol sa katawhan.”
The City College of CDO and the City Government of CDO extend their sincere appreciation to FICCO for their willingness to partake in this collective effort aimed at nurturing grassroots talent into future-ready skilled workers.
