Dr. Jestoni P. Babia, Interim President, and Prof. Jonathan A. Madronero, Vice President for Research Innovation, Creative Works, and Enterprise (RICE) at City College of Cagayan de Oro, presented their paper titled "Mindfulness, Health Habits, and Systems Thinking: A Pathway to Achieving SDG 3 and SDG 4" at the ๐๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ญ๐ก ๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ง๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ ๐๐จ๐ง๐ฏ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐จ๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐ก๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐จ๐๐ข๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐๐๐๐ก๐๐ซ๐ฌ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ฎ๐๐๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ฌ (๐๐๐ ๐๐), which was held at Capitol University in Cagayan de Oro City on October 10-11, 2024.
The study highlights that combining mindfulness practices, health habits, and systems thinking provides a holistic approach to enhancing faculty success, in line with Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and 4 (Quality Education). The paper advocates for educational institutions to adopt mindfulness training, encourage healthy habits, and integrate systems thinking into professional development, while also calling for localized research to tailor these strategies to different educational contexts. The convention, themed "Towards New Directions in Teacher Education: Adapting to a Changing Landscape," addressed contemporary educational challenges, innovative teaching strategies, and necessary policy reforms. The event brought together educators, researchers from the Philippines and abroad, and policymakers, including Sen. Sonny Angara, Secretary of the Department of Education. During his keynote speech, he shared thereโs an ongoing review aimed at finding a balanced solution to the administrative demands placed on teachers.
