On December 10, 2024, the City College of Cagayan de Oro - Technical Skills and Technology Institute (TSTI) celebrated its 11th Graduation Ceremony, marking another milestone in its commitment to technical-vocational education and training. Held at Ayala Malls Centrio in Cagayan de Oro City, the event carried the theme “Empowering Tomorrow: Skill, Adapt, Innovate – TVET for Socio-Economic Transformation,” emphasizing the transformative power of skills in shaping a brighter future for individuals and communities.

The ceremony recognized 436 graduates from the third and fourth quarters who successfully completed various programs, including 144 in Housekeeping NC II, 50 in Barangay Health Services (BHS) NC II, 122 in Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) NC II, 49 in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC I, and 71 in SMAW NC II. Each graduate’s dedication highlighted the opportunities of technical-vocational education, with exceptional trainees recognized for their outstanding performance.

The ceremony was graced by the college's leadership, including its president, vice presidents from various departments, and the vocational school administrator, along with deans, directors, and faculty members.

Atty. Hilario P. Raagas, City Administrator and representative of Mayor Rolando “Klarex” A. Uy, extended the city government’s heartfelt congratulations to the graduates. Meanwhile, TESDA Region 10 Regional Director Rafael Y. Abrogar II followed with an inspiring keynote address, highlighting the transformative power of skills. Quoting, “If there’s a skill, there’s a way. If there’s a skill, there’s an opportunity to improve one’s life,” he illustrated his message with the story of a former tech-voc graduate who overcame adversity and achieve success, reinforcing how skills can pave the way for new and brighter future.

The City College of CDO, in partnership with TESDA Region 10, is working to expand additional TVET programs, like diploma courses and advanced National Certifications (NCs), alongside its existing Mobile Training and Community-Based Training Program. The institution is confident that the realization of these initiatives, supported by key stakeholders and industry partners, will inspire more Kagayanon youth to #AIMHIGHER and become future-ready skilled workers!
