"The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek." - Joseph Campbell
This powerful quote, shared by our third resource speaker, Ms. Xyla Mercedita E. Gualberto, resonated with the campers on Day 2 of the GIYA 2023 Leadership Training Camp. In her inspiring talk on Social Responsibility, Ms. Gualberto emphasized the importance of courage and self-awareness in the pursuit of community service and positive impact. She encouraged each participant to face their personal fears and uncertainties, suggesting that personal growth and the rewards of service often lie just beyond these challenges.
The second day of the camp was designed to deepen the campers’ understanding of social responsibility and foster a strong sense of duty toward their communities. Through interactive discussions, Ms. Gualberto introduced the concept of being a responsible member of society, underlining the importance of active engagement in community initiatives and the value of teamwork.
The activities of the day were crafted not only to foster camaraderie and spark friendly competition but also to help participants build networks and form meaningful connections with one another. Engaging in team-building exercises and group projects, the campers learned valuable lessons in collaboration, communication, and problem-solving—all essential qualities for effective leadership.
As the day progressed, the campers embraced a supportive and encouraging environment, motivated by their peers and mentors to step out of their comfort zones and embrace new challenges. By the end of the day, the campers left with a renewed sense of purpose and a commitment to making a positive difference in their communities.
