Prof. Jonathan A. Madronero, the Vice President for Urban Nexus for Licensing Intellectual Property, Research, Innovation, and Creative Enterprise (UNLIRICE) CCCDO UNLI Research, Innovation, and Creative Enterprise, earned the Best Poster Presentation award during the International Workshop on Mathematical Biology (IWOMB), held from January 20-23, 2025, at the Coron Westown Resort in Coron, Palawan.
With the theme "Mathematical Biology in the Data-Driven Era: Bridging Models and Biological Insights," the four-day IWOMB event brought together brilliant mathematical biology researchers, along with local and international experts. It featured insightful plenary sessions and engaging workshops that explored intersections of mathematics and life sciences, including population dynamics, ecology, developmental biology, biophysics, epidemiology, and physiology.
During the final day, participants presented their collaborative outputs, showcasing innovative ideas and solutions. Prof. Madronero's award-winning presentation focused on the critical role of power analysis in research and its practical applications. He highlighted how strategic planning ensures reliable results, even under resource constraints, by emphasizing optimal sample sizes, identifying meaningful effects, and maintaining both accuracy and research integrity.
Prof. Madronero expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the City College of CDO academic community for their unwavering support and he also extended his thanks to Mayor Rolando A. UY for his steadfast dedication to education and the pursuit of knowledge.
