The City College of Cagayan de Oro is honored to announce the availability of the facsimile of Noli Me Tangere—a rare and valuable addition to its library collection. This distinguished piece was presented by the National Library of the Philippines (NLP) as a token of appreciation for the Philippine Librarians Association, Inc. - Northern Mindanao Region Librarians Council’s (PLAI-NMRLC) collaboration in the 2025 National Conference for Public Libraries.
The conference, hosted by the NLP and the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental through the Misamis Oriental Provincial Library, was held from March 17 to 20, 2025, at the Chali Resort and Conference Center in Cagayan de Oro, under the theme "Public Libraries in Action: A Blueprint for an Empowered Community."
Representing PLAI-NMRLC at the event was our very own Dr. Melody R. Agcito, Head of the College Library Services Office and PLAI-NMRLC President. In her session, Dr. Agcito highlighted the VMGO, Certificate of Good Standing, membership, accomplishments, and activities of PLAI-NMRLC (2024-2025).
She also introduced the highly anticipated Micro-Credential Program for Barangay Reading Centers and Libraries, a collaborative initiative with City College of Cagayan de Oro, PLAI-NMRLC, and the Cagayan de Oro City Public Library. This program is designed to equip staff in barangay reading centers and libraries with essential skills for effective library management, addressing challenges such as resource limitations, minimal training, and evolving user needs.
Through this initiative, grassroots library services will be strengthened, ensuring accessible and well-managed reading centers that empower local communities.
We encourage students, faculty, and library professionals to explore this rare facsimile and join us in celebrating our ongoing commitment to literacy, education, and professional development.
