n a major step toward improving teacher education in the Philippines, Dr. Jestoni Babia, Visayas Representative of the Teacher Education Council appointed by the Office of the President of the Philippines, and President of City College of Cagayan de Oro, joined the joint Technical Panel for Teacher Education and Teacher Education Council (TPTE and TEC) writeshop from March 4 to 7, 2025, in Quezon City. The focus is on curriculum reframing to enhance teacher quality.

This initiative responds to gaps in teacher education in the country, as highlighted in the EDCOM 2 report. The revised curriculum will also align with the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST) to ensure future educators meet high professional standards.

The TEC, TPTE, and Research Institute for Teacher Quality (RITQ) spearheaded the revision, which includes:

✅ New professional education courses ✅ Updated program outcomes and performance indicators ✅ Refined course content

Dr. Babia played a crucial role in shaping these improvements, contributing to a more relevant and effective teacher training framework. By modernizing teacher education, this initiative ensures future educators are better prepared to meet evolving educational demands. With a research-backed framework and PPST alignment, the reframed curriculum is set to elevate teaching standards nationwide.

This proactive effort signals a strong commitment to producing highly competent educators who can drive meaningful change in Philippine education.
