About


The Office of the Student Affairs and Services is responsible for overseeing and managing the comprehensive student affairs and services programs within City College of Cagayan de Oro. It plays a crucial role in fostering a supportive and inclusive campus environment that enhances the overall student experience and contributes to their personal and academic development. These services and programs are designed to promote the academic, personal, and holistic development of students. SAS is divided into three main sections: Student Services, Student Development Services, and Student Conduct and Discipline.

BIONOTE

Vonn Francis F. Cantila is a graduate of Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English at Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan and graduated Magna Cum Laude.

He was an active student-leader in his college days, where he spearheaded several departments -- Department of Academic Affairs and Department of Leadership and Formation in Teachers' Guild, former President of Xavier University School of Education Literary and Communication Society, and Academics Head of Association of Xavier Univerisity Oro Scholars.

He was the Volunteers Development Department Head of the Volunteer Iskolar-Leaders Program of the City Scholarships Program. He co-founded the Teacher Education Student Leaders' Assembly (TESLA) with his fellow ImPowered Members last 2021 and was awarded Fr. William Masterson SJ Outstanding Project for Student Services at the 16th MAGIS Awards.

He was awarded the Volunteer of the Year at the Kinanao Awards given by the City of Cagayan de Oro. Currently, he is the Officer-in-Charge of the Student Affairs and Services at the City College of Cagayan de Oro where he remained active in student activities and development.

Responsibilities


Student Affairs and Services
  • 1. Develop and align a strategic vision for student affairs with the institution's mission.
  • 2. Lead programs enhancing student engagement, well-being, and success.
  • 3. Integrate co-curricular activities with academic departments.
  • 4. Supervise student organizations to promote vibrant campus life.
  • 5. Organize events for social and cultural enrichment of student life.
  • 6. Represent the institution in relevant student affairs forums and conferences.
  • 7. Implement assessment strategies to measure program effectiveness.
  • 8. Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives for students.
  • 9. Collaborate to create an inclusive campus environment celebrating diversity.
  • 10. Manage the budget for efficient allocation of student affairs resources.
  • 11. Establish peer support initiatives for community building among students.
  • 12. Advocate for student rights and interests within the institution.
  • 13. Establish mechanisms for student feedback and representation in decision-making.

Student Development Services
  • 1. Facilitate the personal and academic growth of students through diverse developmental programs.
  • 2. Designing and implementing orientation programs for new students.
  • 3. Coordinating leadership development initiatives.
  • 4. Organizing workshops and seminars on skill enhancement and career development.
  • 5. Providing academic advising and support services.
  • 6. Fostering a sense of community through student engagement activities.
  • 7. Identifying opportunities for resource optimization and cost-effective measures.

Student Conduct and Discipline
  • 1. Uphold and enforce standards of behavior and conduct outlined in the Student Code of Conduct.
  • 2. Ensure a fair and impartial process for addressing alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct.
  • 3. Foster a campus culture that promotes ethical behavior, responsible citizenship, and respect for diversity.
  • 4. Draft, update, and disseminate the Student Code of Conduct in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • 5. Conduct fair and impartial disciplinary hearings, ensuring due process for all parties involved.
  • 6. Determine appropriate sanctions in cases where a violation is substantiated.
  • 7. Organize workshops, training sessions, and awareness campaigns on ethical behavior and responsible citizenship.
  • 8. Maintain accurate and confidential records of disciplinary proceedings, including investigations, hearings, and sanctions.
  • 9. Ensure compliance with relevant data protection and privacy regulations.
