Breaking Barriers and Fostering Inclusivity

The City College of Cagayan de Oro Faculty and Staff participated in the Gender Sensitivity in the Workplace Training last April 23, 2023 at the City College of CDO campus. This empowering session featured Dr. Chona Patricia R. Echavez, the Director of Research Institute for Mindanao Culture (RIMCU), along with her research associates Mr. Michael Lou Montejo and Mr. John Mari Migallon.

Throughout the day, the participants delved into crucial topics such as dissecting the LGBTQIA+, exploring Policies and Laws on Gender and Development, understanding the Importance and Effects of Gender and Development, and much more through engaging workshops.

In his inspiring welcome remarks, Dr. Jestoni Babia, President of City College of Cagayan de Oro, emphasized that although there are ongoing initiatives in Gender and Development, challenges are still present. However, he also highlighted the institution's unwavering commitment to addressing these challenges through initiatives like this training.

The concluded activity stands as a testament to the institution's steadfast dedication to fostering inclusivity. The City College of CDO community is thankful to Dr. Echavez and her team for sharing their insights to cultivate a workplace culture where diversity is not just acknowledged but also celebrated.
