The City College of Cagayan de Oro โ Technical Skills and Technology Institute (TSTI) is now expanding its free skills training program via off-campus training at the City Engineers Compound, Barangay Kauswagan, Cagayan De Oro City.
Last April 15, 2023, fifty-six (56) student-trainees enrolled in Housekeeping (HSK) NCII, Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) NCII, and Barangay Health Services (BHS) NCII have started their training, marking the start of the 2nd quarter of this year.
The said off-campus training in Barangay Kauswagan aims to address the geographical challenges faced by the residents, particularly those in District 01 who wish to acquire free skills training but find themselves hindered by the distance from its present campus in Barangay Agusan. Currently, itโs offering three (3) skills qualifications year-round, including Housekeeping (HSK) NCII, Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) NCII, and Barangay Health Services (BHS) NCII.
For those Kagay-anons who are interested in acquiring free and quality skills training in the said campus, there are still a few slots available for Housekeeping (HSK) NCII and Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) NCII qualifications. To enroll, please visit City Engineers Compound in Barangay Kauswagan and look for Ms. Malou Acorda of the Office of the Registrar for screening and enrollment procedures.

The Office of Senator Bong Go initiates funding worth Php 900,548 for the Training for Work Scholarship (TWSP) under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Program to the City College of Cagayan de Oro โ Technical Skills and Technology Institute (TSTI). This financial support, divided into two batches of 22 slots each, aims to empower Kagay-anons in the disadvantaged and vulnerable sectors by equipping them with construction skills specialized in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NCI & NCII. The first batch commenced last April 2023, with the second scheduled for June this year.
During the 2nd Quarter Orientation Seminar of TSTI held on April 24, Senator Bong Go conveyed warm greetings to the scholars and trainees via a video message. Additionally, Ms. Gay Failog, a representative from his office, also attended the event to personally meet and greet the student-trainee scholars.

The institution looks forward to cultivating more initiatives focused on uplifting the quality of life through technical and vocational skills training.

On June 8th and 9th, 2023, the BHS NC II trainees of the City College of Cagayan de Oro-Technical Skills and Technology Institute (TSTI) completed a successful Learning Exchange program at JR Borja General Hospital. This initiative provided them with invaluable hands-on experience within a real hospital setting, where they had the opportunity to work alongside healthcare professionals and observe various medical procedures firsthand.
Divided into two batches over the weekend, each group of trainees focused on nursing aids and gained practical insights into hospital operations. Lead Trainer Charlotte Ytem Cansino, BSA, RN, MN, MPA, oversaw the activities, ensuring a productive and educational experience for all participants.
Special gratitude is also extended to the BHS trainers, Nice J. Bingona, RN, MPH, and Glen Vuelvan, RN, MN, who contributed to the trainees' preparation leading up to the event.
This immersive learning opportunity has equipped our BHS NC II trainees with the skills and confidence to make a positive impact on community health. Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication to enriching our educational programs.
On June 30, 2023, the streets of Cagayan de Oro were filled with chants as the community united for the CDO PRIDE March 2023. Celebrated with Mayor Rolando "Klarex" A. Uy, the event started from Rodelsa Circle and culminated at Plaza Divisoria Amphitheatre, where the celebration and program proper continued.
Faculty and non-teaching staff from the City College of CDO joined in solidarity to advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. Their participation displayed the institution's commitment to equality and affirmed that the fight for LGBTQ+ rights continues.
